STRENGTHENING HUMAN CAPACITY THROUGH HOME MANAGEMENT FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS: POVERTY ALLEVIATION PERSPECTIVE

Abstract
The Study investigated Strengthening Human Capacity through Home Management for Sustainable Development Goals: Poverty Alleviation Perspective. Three (3) research questions were raised to guide the conduct of the study and one (1) hypothesis formulated and tested at 0.05 % of significance. A descriptive survey design was employed. The population of the study was eight hundred and twenty-four (824). made up of two hundred and sixty-nine (269) academic staff, three hundred and ninety-eight (398) senior non-teaching staff and one hundred and fifty-seven (157) junior staff The sample for this study comprised one hundred (100) staff, constituting 12 percent of (12%) of the study population. The instrument used in carrying out this study is questionnaire titled; Home Management a panacea to Sustainable Development Goals (HMSDGs). Findings revealed that Home Management has positive impact on poverty alleviation among staff of Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka, Lagos, Nigeria. Also that there was a significant difference in mean responses of male and female non-teaching staff and their male and female academic staff counterparts [F (2, 93) = 2.902, p= 0.040]. Based on the findings of the study, the following recommendations were made, Seminars should be organized for staff on a regular basis on the importance of Home Management in poverty alleviation and sustainable development; areas of focus in Home Management should be money management, energy management, impulsive buying, time management, decision making among others
