IMPROVING HUMAN CAPACITY THROUGH VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE FACE OF NATIONAL

Abstract

This paper focused on how Vocational and Technical Education (VTE) can improve human capacity for sustainable development in the face of national insecurity. It explained some concepts such as human capacity, VTE, sustainable development and national insecurity. It also, explained roles of VTE in human capacity building, contributions of VTE for sustainable development, strategies for improving human capacity through VTE and some impediments to functional VTE programme in Nigeria. Based on the foregoing, it was concluded that VTE help in producing skilled manpower which complement the nation’s labour force, it creates wealth and emerge out of poverty among the citizens of Nigeria youths, it enhances the productivity of workers in their chosen career and increase their earning throughout their life time.
