CONGESTION IN CLASSROOMS AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL BUSINESS STUDIES STUDENTS IN LAGOS

Abstract
This study focused on congestion in classrooms and its impact on the academic achievement of junior secondary school students in business studies. The population comprised of all the students in Lagos state. A two stage sampling technique comprising purposive and simple random sampling technique was deployed in selecting 500 respondents from Kosofe Local Governments Area of Lagos state as a representative sample. In an attempt to guide the study, three research questions were put forward. The data generated were analysed with mean and percentage. The result shows that congestion in classrooms make students lack concentration during teaching and learning process and this is capable of subjecting learners to poor performances in subject areas. The study recommends that Teachers needs to work hand in hand with the government in ensuring that strategy is put in place towards curbing congestions in the classroom.
